There are some mornings I know I’ll remember forever and this sunrise elopement at Lake Kawaguchiko, with Sakura gently blooming and Mount Fuji watching quietly in the distance, is one of them.
R & M flew all the way from Australia to Japan for their dream elopement near Mount Fuji , just the two of them, no pressure, no rush, just love, nature, and meaningful moments. Spring in mid-April is magical here: the air is cool, cherry blossoms are still holding onto the branches, and the colors feel soft and romantic.
And sunrise? That’s when everything feels private and intimate like Japan is waking up with you.
Why They Chose Lake Kawaguchiko for Their Elopement
When we first spoke, they shared one simple wish:
“We want somewhere peaceful with Mount Fuji in background, where we can just be ourselves.”
Lake Kawaguchiko offered exactly that.
- Iconic views of Mount Fuji
- Beautiful seasonal flowers and cherry blossoms
- Quiet corners away from the city
- Romantic spots perfect for elopements and pre-wedding photos
Instead of busy city streets and crowds, we planned a morning filled with soft light, blooming Sakura, and gentle walks by the lake.
Getting Ready Before Sunrise — With the Sweetest Team Effort
We began long before sunrise and one important part of the day was making sure the bride felt comfortable and confident.
I arranged for a professional makeup artist who travel all the way from Tokyo . She started on the bride’s makeup while it was still dark, creating a soft, natural look that would photograph beautifully in the morning light.
What made it even more special:She didn’t just finish makeup and leave , she stayed, helped, and supported throughout the shoot. From fixing the veil, adjusting the bride’s heavily embroidered dress, and keeping everything neat between shots, she was such a blessing to have with us.It felt like a small team all working quietly together to make their elopement morning stress-free.
Oishi Park — Flowers, Color, and Open Spaces
Our first location was Oishi Park, one of my favorite spots around Lake Kawaguchiko.
In spring, the garden paths begin to bloom, and the view opens beautifully toward Mount Fuji. We walked through the park, stopping wherever the light touched the blossoms softly.
Their photos here felt:
- joyful
- airy
- romantic
Sakura branches framed them beautifully, and the early morning calm made everything feel intimate.
Kogamasao Park — Quiet, Intimate Moments
Next, we headed to Kogamasao Park, where we found even more Sakura trees in full bloom.
This area felt quieter and more secluded , perfect for peaceful portraits. The branches framed the couple beautifully, and the soft pink blossoms added such a dreamy, romantic atmosphere.
We took our time, letting them walk, laugh, and simply enjoy the surroundings while the morning stayed calm and gentle.
