Pre-wedding photoshoot | Mount Fuji | Lake Kawaguchiko | Oishi Park | Autumn in Japan
There are some mornings that simply feel like magic and this sunrise pre-wedding shoot at Oishi Park, Lake Kawaguchiko with Mount Fuji glowing in the background was one of them.
Holi & Lim planned their pre-wedding photoshoot for mid-November, right at the peak of Japan’s beautiful fall colors. We started exactly at sunrise, when the sky slowly opened up with soft pastels, calm reflections, and peaceful silence all around.
And yes ! it was cold! But the results were truly worth it.
Why we chose Oishi Park, Lake Kawaguchiko for a Mount Fuji pre-wedding session
Oishi Park sits along Lake Kawaguchiko, one of the most iconic viewpoints of Mount Fuji. It offers:
✔ wide open views of Mount Fuji
✔ beautiful reflections on calm mornings
✔ seasonal colors (especially stunning in autumn)
✔ peaceful spaces to move and pose comfortably
Unlike busy city locations, Kawaguchiko has a slower pace : perfect for romantic, cinematic pre-wedding photography.
We purposely planned this session for sunrise to capture the mountain at its best. Mornings here are often clearer, with less haze and fewer crowds and on this day, the visibility was incredible. The light, colors, and reflections felt unreal.
Shooting in mid-November — the beauty of autumn at Mount Fuji
Mid-November at Lake Kawaguchiko brings:
🍁 warm fall tones
🍁 golden trees reflecting in the lake
🍁 crisp air and soft light
🍁 beautiful contrast with the bride’s white dress
It’s one of the most popular times of the year for engagement and pre-wedding photos because everything feels romantic and timeless.
Sunrise sessions: why they’re worth waking up early for
So many couples ask whether sunrise is really necessary. My answer? If you want Mount Fuji in all its beauty — yes.
Here’s why sunrise pre-wedding shoots work incredibly well:
✔ fewer crowds — more privacy for natural poses
✔ softer, flattering light
✔ clearer views of Mount Fuji
✔ peaceful atmosphere (no tourists behind you)
✔ more relaxed shooting experience
It also allows couples to enjoy the rest of the day exploring or celebrating afterward.
Staying warm — and taking care of the bride
Even though it was cold, Holi showed so much strength and grace. She looked stunning in her white dress, and we carefully worked between shots to keep her comfortable.
We prepared:
🧤 hot packs
🧥 warm jacket to cover her between poses
⏱ short shooting bursts so she never stayed exposed too long
My priority is always comfort first , beautiful photos come when couples feel safe, relaxed, and cared for.
Why a white dress looks magical at Lake Kawaguchiko
Wearing a white dress at Kawaguchiko or other Mount Fuji locations creates such an elegant contrast.
White stands out beautifully against:
✨ blue lake water
✨ autumn foliage
✨ deep volcanic tones of Mount Fuji
✨ soft sunrise light
Outside of Tokyo, you also avoid:
🚫 strict photography permits in some parks
🚫 security restrictions
🚫 busy crowds blocking backgrounds
Instead, you get space to move, twirl, laugh, and be yourselves , which always shows in the final images.
Why choose locations outside Tokyo for your pre-wedding photos
Tokyo is beautiful , but it’s busy, crowded, and many popular locations require special photography permits.
Places like Lake Kawaguchiko, Oishi Park, and other Fuji Five Lakes areas offer:
✔ fewer people
✔ stress-free shooting
✔ more natural scenery
✔ stunning variety in one location
For couples dreaming of timeless, romantic portraits, it’s the perfect choice.
